Superintendent Search Update

Superintendent Search Update
May 4, 2023

Dear ACSD Community:

Thank you for your patience as the Board pursues its new goal of identifying a qualified Interim Superintendent for the District. The Board has advertised the interim position and has created an Ad Hoc Search Committee to assist the Board in selecting an Interim Superintendent by the end of May.

The Search Committee consists of 4 Board members, and will also include 1 Central Office Administrator, 1 building-based Administrator, and 1 Teacher to incorporate those perspectives into the process. The timeline for the selection process is detailed below:

  • May 4 - May 12 -- Board receives applicant materials from McPherson & Jacobson

  • Week of May 15 -- Ad Hoc Search Committee screens applicants, conducts interviews and identifies up to 2 candidates for final interviews before the full Board.

  • Week of May 22 -- Final candidate interview with Full Board and Community Zoom

  • End of May -- Board selects top candidate and hires Interim Superintendent for start date in early-mid June.

If you have any questions about the timeline, please contact me at bwilson@acsdvt.org or 802-382-1700.

As always, thank you for your continued interest in the process. We value the entire ACSD community and are looking forward to moving ahead into this new chapter!

Sincerely,

Barb Wilson, Chair
ACSD Board

ACSD SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH UPDATE

Dear ACSD Community:

I am writing to share that the ACSD School Board has decided to pause the current Superintendent Search and pursue hiring an Interim Superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Board would like to thank everyone who has participated in its Superintendent Search process, whether through the stakeholder groups or the community zoom session on Thursday evening. We would also like to thank others who wrote and reached out to Board members to share their feedback, thoughts, and concerns. Your input has been crucial to the process, and the Board seriously considers the perspectives of its administrators and educators, students and families, and broader community in its decision-making.

Based on the information compiled throughout this process, the Board has decided to pursue the process of hiring an interim superintendent for the next year.  This pause will enable the Board to re-initiate the search for a permanent leader in the fall with the hope that there will be a larger pool of viable candidates, ideally with prior superintendent experience, to choose from. The Board holds paramount its responsibility to do what is best for the children, staff, and families of ACSD, and is confident that this is the best path forward for our learning community at this time. We will share details about the interim appointment as soon as it is decided.

With gratitude,

Barb Wilson, Chair
ACSD Board
