Welcome Back Letter

Carta de Superintendente de ACSD - Bienvenidos de Nuevo

August 29,2018

Dear Addison Central School District Community,

It is with great anticipation that I welcome everyone back to school, for the 2018-2019 school year. We have been busy throughout the summer preparing for a great year with your students. I hope that summer was re-energizing, and that your students are excited for new learnings and discoveries.

We continue on our path to becoming an lnternational Baccalaureate World District, and you will see evidence of this transformation throughout our courses and in our classrooms as students explore units of inquiry and make local and global connections in their leaming. We have added an lntemational Baccalaureate tab on our website (, where you can go to learn more about all of the work underway. Also, please look for information throughout the year for opportunities to visit our schools and learn more about the exciting things that are happening.

As you know, the commitment our communities have to education in ACSD is exceptional, and we are continuing to grow that commitment through our work in all of our communities. This year, four community partnership teams have begun in Middlebury, Salisbury, Shoreham, and Weybridge. These teams will be working to bring community and school closer together to engage families and communities in ways that support student achievement and success. ln addition, our Community Partnership Council will continue, from a district level, to build partnerships that strengthen whole child wellness and student success.

Your involvement in your student's education is critical, and we look forward to working together to make this a year of deep learning, continued growth, and great excitement. Please reach out to us throughout the year as we work together to help your student find success.

I look forward to seeing all of you in our schools and throughout the community. Have a great year!

Peter Burrows, D.Ed.
