Welcoming our students back has been an incredible experience for all, and in just two short weeks, students are adapting to the new health and safety guidelines in our schools extremely well. From classrooms to athletics, students are stepping up and supporting a healthy and safe school environment.
COVID-19 transmission data continues to stay low in Vermont. As I shared at the start of the school year, we will soon be assessing our systems, COVID-19 data, and staffing to determine if we’re able to move towards more in-person learning, prioritizing our youngest students. State guidelines provide different parameters for younger students, and districts across the state that have started in a hybrid model are all determining whether conditions support a shift in our phase of learning within the first 4-6 weeks of school. Please look for more information in the weeks ahead.
Vermont had its first positive COVID-19 cases in schools this past week, and we are learning from these school responses to support our systems and our work with the Vermont Department of Health. Last week, we shared our ACSD COVID-19 Action Guide and our Dashboard. Please familiarize yourself with these, and reach out to Kelly Landwehr, our MUHS lead nurse and COVID-19 Coordinator, should you have any questions.
Thanks for making the first two weeks of school a success!
