Dear ACSD Community,

I'm writing to share the news that Governor Scott today made an executive order that the start of the school year would be moved for all school districts in Vermont to September 8. Further guidance will be coming to school districts over the next week to clarify what this change means for the number of days in the year. Once we receive that information, we will be reworking our ACSD school calendar and sharing that with our community. At this time, I believe that this change in the start date will not make the school year longer, but I will confirm that when I send out an updated ACSD school calendar.

Our ACSD school reentry planning continues. We know that many of our families are working to juggle personal and professional challenges during the pandemic, and we are collaborating with regional and state partners to help find solutions. The social-emotional health and well-being of our community is critical, and this will be a major focus of our work throughout this coming year.

We know there are still many questions about what the year will look like. Expect updates from your school and ACSD over the next weeks as we share more specifics to be ready to welcome our students back for the start of the year on September 8.

I look forward to seeing you all in the weeks ahead, and appreciate the deep community support that continues to make an impact on our students, staff, and families.

Sincerely,

Peter Burrows

ACSD Superintendent
