Eighth Grade Transition to Middlebury Union High School Begins
Yes! We are already starting the process of transitioning our eighth graders to MUHS for ninth grade. Below is a timeline of some important dates for students and parents to be aware of:
Mid-January - Early February – Teachers make recommendations for their students’ ninth grade classes. These recommendations are given to the high school guidance counselors who will share them with students and parents to be used to register for high school courses. Note: In IB there is only one choice for students in Language and Literature, Individuals and Society and science.
January 25 - All eighth graders visit the Hannaford Career Center. This will include a visit to both the campus near Middlebury Union High School and the North Campus off Exchange Street where the automotive and diesel programs are located.
February 13 – MUHS Guidance department mails details of the ninth grade course registration process as well as a copy of the teacher recommendation form, the MUHS Course Catalog and details about Parent Information Night.
February 27 – 8th Grade Parent Information Night at 6:45 p.m. MUHS Auditorium.
March 5th – High School Counselors visit MUMS classes to give an overview of the MUHS programs, discuss making a four year plan and sign up for elective classes.
Late May – Eighth graders visit MUHS.
Late August – Eighth graders’ (now 9th graders) Orientation Day at MUHS.
