Welcome & Ice Cream Social with Principal Whitmore-Sells
Dear Shoreham Community:
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction as your new Principal of Shoreham Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community that helps to ensure that all students feel seen, heard and valued. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school and to support the students and families in this amazing community.
Connection is key to our work together and I want to start the year with an invitation to join me next Friday, August 23rd at 3pm for our Ice Cream Social on the Shoreham playground. I will also offer community coffee hours each month. I will share these and other times in my Friday principal newsletters.
I have been an educator for 27 years, and most of those years have been in Vermont where I have served as an elementary classroom teacher, diversity/ equity coordinator and a coordinator of multilingual services. You will get to know more about me throughout the year.
As we begin the year together, I want you to know that as an educational leader, I will work to establish a collaborative learning environment with high expectations and positive relationships that support academic and social growth of all students in our school community. By doing so, I believe we will set students up to live and grow in a global society.
I am so looking forward to a fantastic year by working with you all as we develop a strong partnership between our school and families. I hope to see you on August 23rd for ice cream. I also invite you to reach out to me if I can be of any assistance to you.
Sincerely, Lashawn Whitmore - Sells
Principal
