A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:
MY HOMETOWN: I lived most of my childhood in Stonington, Connecticut. My favorite things about growing up in Stonington, were swimming and sailing in the ocean, living in a small community, and being near my grandmother.
MY EDUCATION: I went to Prout Memorial High School, in Wakefield, Rhode Island and started college at Northeastern University and then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard (USCG). I used my GI bill to go back to college; finishing my B.S. at Woodbury College and earning my MSW from Springfield College.
MY CAREER: I was active duty in the USCG for 5 years and in the reserves for 10. While in the reserves, I was able to take short-term contracts while raising my family. After moving to Vermont, I started working as a Para Professional at Shoreham Elementary School. After receiving my degrees I was lucky enough to work as a School Social Worker at Centerpoint School, in S. Burlington, Vermont. At the end of last school year, I retired from Centerpoint and started a new chapter in my life, working at Mary Hogan School.
OUTSIDE SCHOOL: Three years ago I started knitting again. I have enjoyed taking lessons and being part of a lively group of social knitters every Saturday at Yarn and Yoga in Bristol. Bringing my creative side out with knitting, sewing, and needlepoint is helping me into ease into retirement. I loving spending time with my two grandchildren and exposing them to opportunities to enrich their lives. Spending time with my dog is also something special in my life. It greatly enriches my life and provides me with a wagging tail and kisses when I get home.
MY FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL WAS: Math!
