TROY DOUGLAS

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:

MY HOMETOWN:  I was born in Wisconsin (yes, I am a proud Cheese Head) and moved to Minnesota shortly after.

MY EDUCATION:  I went to Northland College in Northern Wisconsin to pursue degrees in Outdoor Education: Natural History and Adventure Therapeutic Design, Environmental Studies, Environmental Education and Native American Studies. Later in life I ventured back to school at Hamline University College of Education for my Masters in Education: Natural Science and Environmental Education.

MY CAREER:  I have spent my days working at some pretty AMAZING places and locations across the state of MN, WI and now VT. From leading canoe trips in beautiful Lake of the Woods on the Canada MN border to voyageur canoes on Lake Superior. Working at the Audubon Center of the North Woods as an Adventure and Intern Coordinator teaching ages kids through adults, science, history and adventure classes. Not to mention the great pleasure of being able to work along side numerous birds of prey species (a red-tailed hawk being one of themJ), a squirrel and a porcupine.

I started teaching PE in Duluth, MN after a stent of being a member of a Charter School Authorizer for 35 unique schools. After moving to Vermont I have had the privilege to work at several of the ACSD Elementary Schools: Bridport Central Schools, Ripton Elementary and now Mary Hogan!

OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL:   Fishing, fishing and making up stories about fishing! Also, just about everything to do outside. Rock climbing, paddling anything that floats, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, snowboarding, making paddles, hunting, hiking, biking, swimming, exploring, cooking, cutting wood, etc. The list is endless! I LOVE to be active and share adventures with other people. My most recent adventures are learning to play ice hockey as a goalie and to do the splits.

MY FAVORITE SUBJECT(S) IN SCHOOL WERE: PE!!! Recess, Lunch and Science.
