Degrees and Certifications:
A teacher for twenty years now, Mel has worked in three states (Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Vermont) and has taught every grade from Kindergarten through 6th grade, mostly in multi-age classrooms. She has a degree in linguistics and education from Swarthmore College and a Masters in Literacy Instruction from Lesley University. Mel worked and trained at The Benchmark School for students with reading disabilities and has written and presented professionally about differentiating math instruction.
Mel lives in Weybridge with her husband and children. Her daughter, Meredith, is in the 5th grade at WES and her son, Miles, will be a 2nd grader in the K-2 class.
