Sarah Metcalf, Instrumental Music

I began teaching PK-6 general, choral, and instrumental music in 2003 after earning my Bachelor's in Music Education from the Univeristy of Massachusetts-Amherst. For the 2012-2013 school year, I took a sabbatical to earn a Master's of Music Education (Kodály Emphasis) from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, CT  In 2015, I received the Green Mountain Music District V Music Educator of the Year Award. In addition to teaching instrumental music at Cornwall, I also teach general, choral, and instrumental music at Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham and Weybridge elementary schools.

I enjoy walking, reading, sleeping (a challenge with twins!), and making music in community instrumental and vocal groups. I have performed in many local ensembles including the Middlebury College Community Chorus (alto), Vermont Wind Ensemble (tuba), the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra (tuba/trombone), LC Jazz (trombone), the Middlebury Wind Ensemble (tuba/trombone), Bristol Band (trombone/tuba), Orwell Town Band (trumpet), the Ridgerunners (tuba/trombone), the Green Mountain Brass Band (tuba), the Green Mountain Mahler Festival Chorus (alto), and several brass chamber groups.
