I am Jeff Murawski, guidance counselor at Middlebury Union Middle School since 1989.  I was raised in suburban New York and graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in Education and a Masters degree in guidance and counseling.  Prior to working at MUMS I worked at the Austen Riggs Center, a private psychiatric hospital in Stockbridge Mass., as well as being the director of residence at Eagleton School in Great Barrington, Mass.  While working at MUMS I also worked as an emergency clinican for the Counseling Service of Addison County from 1988 - 2013.  Having worked with many populations of individuals, I have found working with middle school students the most fulfilling.  It is an age group that can be very thoughtful and reflective while also having an enthusiasm and excitement that few other age groups share.

My interests outside of MUMS are renovating houses (I am on my fifth), golf, gardening and traveling.  I am married to my wife Abbey Pope for the past 33 years and have two grown daughters. I live in Cornwall and have always enjoyed living within the district in which I work.
