Social-Emotional Learning

ACSD is in the process of developing a system-wide understanding of and approach to social and emotional learning. According to the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.  

A team of educators from across the district have formed a team to help guide the work over the coming months and years. The ability to support adult and student well-being is foundational to the learning.  A section of the CASEL website has multiple resources for families and communities.
