ARP-ESSER Overview and Opportunity for Feedback

  • ARP-ESSER is the American Rescue Plan - Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund.

From the VT AOE: “The American Rescue Plan - Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP-ESSER) funds are intended, ‘to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students,’ with a specific emphasis on meeting the needs of underserved student groups and those most significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The ACSD Public Plan for ARP ESSER Spending (posted below) is open for public comment from March 29 through April 30, 2022. ACSD has employed a variety of efforts to engage stakeholders in meaningful consultation to inform our planning up until this point. These efforts include an initial needs assessment and employee survey in early 2021, presentations to the school board in December 2021 and March 2022, an ongoing recovery team that has met since June of 2020, a question about possible uses for ESSER funds embedded in an Equity and Inclusion Diagnostic survey that was sent to all students, staff, parents and caregivers in ACSD in February 2022, a presentation and conversation with ACSD educators in March of 2022, a page on our website and form that was open for public comment beginning in February 2022, and targeted engagement of one-on-one and small group conversations with specific stakeholder representatives. You can read more details about our public engagement beginning on page 10 of the Public Plan.

After viewing the Public Plan, we invite you to use the community feedback form (also linked below the slideshow) to help us prioritize the possible investment categories. Please also use the community feedback form if you have any additional areas that you believe should be considered for funding.
