JULIE SCHONDUBE
During the kindergarten year, students will learn and grow together in our classroom community. We start our day with Morning Meeting, during which everyone is greeted and welcomed and joined together. Throughout the day, the kindergarten students are involved in literacy and math learning activities, practicing problem solving skills, becoming more independent, exploring the world around them and learning how to be a respectful community member. I especially enjoy being out in nature with kindergartners and often take the class out to explore the wooded school area, while also taking hikes out in Battell Woods. I also like to sing and move with the kindergartners! Our days are busy and full of energy and we often take movement breaks to recharge and be ready for what comes next. Kindergarten is the place to be!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:
MY HOMETOWN: I grew up in Vergennes, Vermont.
MY EDUCATION: I graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 1991 and then went on to get my undergraduate degree from Plattsburgh State and Castleton University.
MY CAREER: My first teaching position was sharing a first grade classroom. I then taught grade two and grade three before finally deciding on Kindergarten.
OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL: I love to be outdoors with my family. I have 2 sons, Walter and Eli, and my husband's name is Aaron. We hike, boat, fish, swim, camp and have fun together. The Outer Banks of North Carolina is our favorite place to vacation every year. Our 2 dogs, Frisco and Izzy, like to go on adventures with us, too!
MY FAVORITE SUBJECTS IN SCHOOL WERE: Science and Writing.
