In Spanish class, students work on the transdisciplinary Unit "How We Express Ourselves."
The central idea is "We express our culture and values through celebrations."
Students learn from celebrations around the world. One of the celebrations is Día de Muertos from Mexico where people built altars in their houses, schools, and cemeteries.
MHS's Spanish classroom has an altar where students have an option to bring pictures to honor and commemorate the lives of their loved ones who passed away.
Students ask themselves "Why do we celebrate?" "How are different celebrations around the world connected?" "How we respect and appreciate others celebrations?"... etc.
