The IB philosophy is defined by a set of beliefs and values that guide the development and delivery of its educational programs. It is reflected in the IB mission statement, the IB learner profile, What is an IB education? and the program-specific documents that describe and explain each individual program. These documents are available in IB’s resource and document library.
The IB mission is to develop “inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect,” and IB programs “encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners” (ibo.org). The learner profile is a key component of all IB programs.
