Counseling
Students often seek out the support of school counselors on their own. Students may also be referred by parents, teachers, administrators, peers or outside agencies.
Individual Counseling
Short-term, solution focused counseling supports students in crisis and assists students with peer, family and school related concerns. School counselors help students and families access community supports for ongoing counseling as necessary.
Group Counseling
School counselors facilitate small groups, organized around relevant themes. Possible topics include grief and loss, stress management, social skills and others as applicable.
Consultation/Referral
School counselors regularly communicate and collaborate with the MUHS School-based Clinician, MUHS Prevention Specialist and community supports. When needed, school counselors refer students and families to outside school supports such as CSAC, local mental health clinicians, DCF, and medical providers.
