    Dear Families,

Friday we had a great field trip to Middlebury College.  Tom Root shared his amazing collection of insects and spiders (even though they’re not insects; they’re super cool!).  Each student was able to see the insect that they were studying.  It was a great way to see the variety of sizes, colors and shapes of all the insects.

In math we’ve been working on multiplicative comparisons.  The children are developing an understanding of how many times something is greater than something else.  Angus’s age of 9 was compared to my age of 48.  We discovered that -  Mrs. Kane is five times, plus three years as old as Angus.   Boy, I feel really young!

We had a great time with our K-Buddies this past Friday.  Thanks to Blake Harrison, we were able to have a taste test with six different apples:  Macoun, MacIntosh, Cortland, Red Delicious, Unknown 1 and Unknown 2.  All the kids had a blast tasting, comparing, and developing an opinion about each one.  The faces were amazing!

The fourth graders were amazing with their buddies.

Last week the children got an assignment to develop a magazine page to share information about their insects.  The students are using what they know about text features and their insect to capture the attention of their audience - you!  We’re looking forward to sharing all our hard work on Tuesday, Oct. 18th from 6:30 - 7:30 PM

Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me.  Enjoy the week.
