ACSD thanks voters for a positive budget vote

🗳️🌟Thank you to the voters of our ACSD towns for your overwhelming support of our FY 2027 Budget! We also want to welcome new ACSD Board members, Robyn Zeliff-Stattel and James Clark and returning Board member, Jason Chance. Thank you to outgoing members Suzanne Buck, Tricia Allen, and Ellie Romp for their years of service!

The voters also approved the closure of Ripton Elementary School.

There is still one remaining Middlebury ACSD Board seat. The Board anticipates appointing someone to fill the open Middlebury spot. If you are interested, write to board@acsdvt.org.

ACSD New K-5 Transfer Policy

The ACSD Board recently revised Board Policy C30, School Assignment and Intra-District Transfer, to offer more flexibility to ACSD families when choosing an elementary school for their child(ren). If you are interested in having your child attend a different K-5 elementary school, please read more about the policy and the application process here. To apply, use this form or visit your school’s front office or the ACSD District Office for a paper application. The application process begins on January 30th and all applications must be received by March 2nd, 2026. 

There will be two information sessions to learn more, ask questions, and get support filling out the application: 

  • Thurs, February 5th: 5:30-6:30pm Virtual Q&A with the Superintendent. Use this Google meet link.
  • Weds, February 18: 8:30-9:30am: In person Q+A and Application Assistance at the Superintendent's Office (49 Charles Ave, Middlebury)

Invitation to the ACSD School Board town halls

ACSD Board School Board Town Hall Meetings are a chance to share what is important to you about your student’s education, help shape budget priorities, and help the Board understand the hopes and values you have for our schools, our district, and the future of public education in Vermont. Distinguished Service Awards!

This year, Superintendent Baker awarded five Distinguished Service Awards to teachers and staff who demonstrated extraordinary professional service during the 2024-25 school year:

  • Ripton K-2 teacher, Melissa Giroux, was recognized for her ability to bring families and students together during a time of transition while maintaining strong student performance.
  • Mary Hogan Kindergarten Teacher, Franny Gould, and Principal, Jen Kravitz, were recognized for their clear, thoughtful leadership in the resolution of parental concerns about instructional materials.
  • Bridport Kindergarten Teacher, Andrea Way, was recognized for using her voice and agency to place student success at the center of challenging budget and grade configuration discussions.
  • Salisbury Principal, Bjarki Sears, was recognized for his grace and leadership in bringing the communities and students of Salisbury and Ripton together to share a single school building for the 2025-26 school year.

Ben Krahn receives the 2025 Secondary Teacher of the Year award

Ben Krahn received the Outstanding Secondary Teacher of the year. He was honored for his deep intellect, dry wit, and exceptionally engaging classroom instruction where he has been a driving force in bringing our MUHS Language & Literature curriculum to life. In class, he is known for the curiosity, humor, and genuine interest he shows while pushing students to become better writers and thinkers.
